It was a hot summer day in central Texas on the June 25th, 2016 for Amanda & Travis Wedding. The wedding was held in Waco Texas at the St Paul Lutheran Church. were tears and laughter during the ceremony and we were all worried that Amanda wasn’t going to stop crying until the Pastor started in with the wedding vows rhyming like Dr Suess! It was then that the entire church was filled with laughter. It was the most entertaining Wedding ceremonies I had ever attended. After the church ceremony close to the reception hall was this very rustic building that we used as a backdrop for some very unique photos. Best of luck to Amanda and Travis as they are quite a beautiful couple. though i am a born and raised Buckeye, I will say this in their honor…. “GIG ‘EM!!!”

Amanda & Travis Engagement
It was a chilly morning when we shot Amanda and Travis’s engagement photos. Good thing I had brought a jacket as Amanda had chill bumps all over her arms. We got an early start for the best light and a cool front had moved in the day before. We shot these photos in Old Settlers park in Round Rock Texas. Amanda and Travis are both graduates of Texas A&M and the wedding was scheduled for June 25th, 2016 In Waco Texas.
Preacher SXSW 2016
We had went to SXSW 2016 and one of the things I wanted to see was the AMC Preacher display of the upside down church. We found out that there was a twitter contest for a meet and greet with the creators and cast. This would include show creators Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg (executive producers and directors), and Sam Catlin (writer, also wrote Breaking Bad) and cast members Dominic Cooper, Joe Gilgun and Ruth Negga. I tweeted a photo from my wife’s phone with a photo of the both of us in front of the church and hoped for the best. I got up Monday morning and noticed I had missed direct message from AMC Preacher that I had 2 hours to reply to win a pass for the meet and greet with the cast and crew! Well it was 6:30 in the morning so I replied back thinking I had missed my chance. About 8:30 am I received a reply that I had until 10am to get to the #welcometoannville display downtown next to the Austin Convention Center. After a long talk with my wife and arguing with myself I decided to take the chance and head on downtown, this was a once in a lifetime chance! I finally made it downtown through all the traffic and found roof top parking. It was just before 10am when I made it to Annville and there was no one on site and the gate was closed. I kept waiting until a couple of other people showed up and then a line begin to form. Once they opened the gate there Preacher crew checked the twitter message and verified that I had actually won! After standing around and waiting in line…
I hope you enjoy the photos of my meet and greet! Cant wait until May 22 for the premiere of Preacher on AMC.
University Texas Tower HDR
It isn’t everyday you get a chance to shoot photos of the University Texas Tower HDR with the tower being all orange! So when you get the chance make sure you shoot it right! I shot this photo with a Canon 5D with a 24-105 F4 lens on a Benro Tripod using my Promote control to get 9 exposures. During these times you will find numerous photographers in the area. I am still waiting to get the photo of the Tower in Orange with the number 1 displayed on the tower using each particular window lit up to create the 1.
My typical work flow includes Lightroom, Photomatix to merge all 9 photos and then some Photoshop work.
Camera Information:
Canon 5D MarkII – Fstop: f/18 – Exposure Time: 3.2 (5th frame) – ISO: 400 – Focal Length: 50mm
Fine art prints are available for purchase at Georgetown Antiques and Artisans located on the square in Georgetown Texas.
Texas Capitol HDR
I attended a Precision Camera sponsored photo walk at the Texas Capitol in Austin and was able to meet some local photographers. I finally got to meet Robert Backman and Dave Wilson and both of these guys are very talented photographers. Robert Backman can be found roaming around various sporting events or working behind the counter at Precision Camera. Dave Wilson is now teaching HDR classes at Precision Camera, so if you want to learn how to shoot HDR or want to get better with this style, make sure to sign up for one of his classes. Don’t forget to ask him about his Texas accent!
The HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos that I posted of the Texas Capitol HDR are 2 of my favorites from that shoot. The Capitol building was under some some reconstruction and upgrades as you can tell by the scaffolding around the dome. I really like how the clouds were that morning and we were all worried if it was going to rain out the event. When doing multiple exposures prefer to use a tripod as it makes editing so much easier and I usually shoot 7-9 exposures using a Promote Control as my Canon 5D MarkII and my Canon 7D MarkI will only shoot a maximum of 3 exposures. If you are going to shoot hand held without a tripod make sure that your shutter speed is fast enough to prevent any photo blur. The hand held technique has worked for me and it just takes some extra editing to align the photos but I only get 3 exposures with my cameras. My typical work flow includes Lightroom, Photomatix and then some Photoshop work.
Fine art prints are available for purchase at Georgetown Antiques and Artisans located on the square in Georgetown Texas.
Camera Information:
Canon 7D – F-stop f/22 – exposure time 1/13 sec – ISO 200 – Focal Length 24mm
Tripod – Promote Control – 24-105 f4 lens
Texas Top Hands Tour Bus
I shot this photo in 2011 in one of my numerous trips to the Broken Spoke in Austin Texas of the Texas Top Hands Tour bus. The Broken Spoke is arguably the greatest Honky – Tonk in central Texas. This bus is no longer on the property and the story that follows is as interesting as the character of the bus itself. Broken Spoke Bus Hauled Away the story is from the Austin Statesman. You can still get free texas Two-step dance lesson every Wednesday to Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, be sure to get there early as they fill up fast! Dont forget to try one of the coldest beers in town and the chicken fried steak before you 2-step the night away to some of the best country music in the world.

Reckless Kelly Celebrity Softball Jam
Every year I get the privilege of attending and shooting photos for the Reckless Kelly Celebrity Softball Jam. The softball game starts at 1:00pm every year at the Dell Diamond home of the Round Rock Express in Round Rock Texas and right after this hilarious fun game the concerts begin on two stages at about 3:00pm. Led by brothers Willy and Cody Braun, the band wanted to create a signature event with friends from the worlds of music and sports combining America’s pastime and music to benefit Austin’s youth. In eight years, the Reckless Kelly Celebrity Softball Jam has raised over $300,000 for area youth leagues (South Austin Little League, Balcones Little League, Montopolis Little League, Del Valley Little League, The Miracle League at Town & Country, The Miracle League of San Antonio, Greater East Austin Youth Association and RBI Austin) including a $150,000 renovation of Mabson Field in East Austin. (from the RKCSJ web page)
Come on out this year on May 15, 2016 for a fun filled day of celebrities pretending to be athletes, a silent auction of too many items to list here (1 year was a red rocking chair autographed by Sammy Hagar) and a years worth of Texas Country Music in an afternoon and don’t forget to stay for the FIREWORKS!!
Bethany Senior Photoz 2016
Bethany made this photo shoot so easy. For as early in the morning as it was, she came prepared which made our senior portraits work easier. We shot the photos outdoors and it started out pretty chilly, as the morning progressed it began to warm up and she really started to have some fun with the photoz. She will be attending Texas A&M in the fall and we wish her the best of luck! We think she will do GREAT! Congratulations and “Gig ‘Em!”
Michelle & Tyler Wedding
We had a great time shooting photos for the Miller & Neilson wedding at Antebellum Oaks Venue in Austin. The venue is located on the west side of Austin and had some very large oak trees where the ceremony was held. A small stream runs down the front of the property providing a variety of back drops. It was a beautiful day with perfect weather and astonishing location. Michelle looked absolutely stunning in her long white gown and the antique hair comb that was once time her grandmothers. Tyler was as calm and cool as the back side of a pillow. Neither one of them was nervous or anxious as they helped prepare the venue for this special day. This wonderous occasion was truly a lot of hard work by both families and numerous friends.
We think we did a great job of capturing the wonderful occasion. They were both so easy to work with, Michelle was worried about the timeline and I had to remind her, “It is your day and you can have it anyway you want, as long as we are out of here by midnight!” Best Wishes and Good Luck to this very happy couple! We look forward to shooting photoz for Anniversaries!
